This has also been posted in the tech forum. But anyways...
I recently put a rear sway bar in my chevelle ('67 malibu). I havent driven it yet so notice the changes, but someone told me that i should box the controll arms, in addition to adding the sway bar. Would it make that big of a difference?? Thanks

IF you installed the sway bar onto stock unboxed control arms and IF you put spacers in the "U" channel such that when you tighten the mounting bolts/nuts you don't crush the "U" channel AND IF you are not going to spend a lot of time in the car racing it on tracks like Willow Springs or Laguna Seca you SHOULD be fine.

I have had a 1" rear sway bar on my 72 Chevelle 4dr for several years with unboxed control arms and no problems. Oh ya! I forgot...I already broke the first sway bar. I am on my second 1" rear sway bar. Good thing P.S.T. warranties them for the life of the product. :)

Who knows how long the sway bar has been on the back of my Elco. Some PO put it on there with the stock LCAs and no boxing nor spacers of any kind. I guess they just left it half tight.

The big/only problem I see is crushing the arms with the sway bar mounting bolts. This is why everybody says to box them. The proper boxing pieces include spacer/supports around the sway bar mounting bolts. I personally think boxing and replacement after market LCAs are quite overrated. I found that 3/8" galvanized pipe couplings fit inside the arm with perhaps slight trimming and make perfect spacers. The LCA is not going to be crushed with those in there and I can torque those bolts right.
