I want to replace the rear shocks on my 70 Malibu. I bought it last year, it has air shocks. The rest of the suspension is 100% stock, in good condition. I plan to use the car as a weekend cruiser, no drag racing or anything. I want to firm up the ride a little bit, but it will be mainly a highway cruiser. I think I'm looking for something a little better than $20 Monroe-Matic shocks, maybe a good gas-filled shock. I see a lot of recommendations on here for the UMI, Vikings and Hotchkis stuff, but I don't think I need to go that high. Is anyone running a rear shock like I'm looking for?
thanks,
Rat

Years ago everybody raved about these on this forum and I tried them to. Still have them on. Nice and firm, but not back breaking harsh. Looks like they are better priced now to. I seem to remember they were around 50..00 a piece when I got mine.

Just put KYB shocks front and rear on my 72, nice ride quality, definitely stiffens up the suspension and didn't cost an arm and a leg. Would recommend these.

Thanks, I am looking at them now. Looks like what I want, and pretty cheap, too!

Thanks. I remember having KYB shocks on a truck that did a nice job.

BTW nothing wrong with Monroe Sensa-trac shocks... great for a cruiser.
