When I bought my 71 chevelle the rear seat shelf was removed. I don't know the intentions of why the previous owner did this, however I'm dealing with it now. I'm having a bit of trouble finding a scrap car that I can get it from and weld into my car. For now I was thinking of cutting 'something' to fit in the meantime. Just looking for some ideas to use for the material that would work well. I thought about wood, but that's a bit porous for my climate. Any suggestions?

you would be much better in the long run fixing it correctly. find a donor car and weld it in. got any pictures?

I had somewhat of a similar problem. Part of my package tray was rusted. Here are some pictures.

I would definitely take the time to weld in what is missing.

Oh yeah, I deffinately plan on doing it right. I said I was only doing it for now. I can get some pictures tomorrow. Just looking for some suggestions for a temporary fix until I can find a donor car. I'd have to go way out in the boonies to some junkyards to get them, and unfortunately I have not had a chance to do that, and probably won't for some time yet.

BTW, you did a great job on your fix.
