I just rebuilt motor and tranny in # matching 71 malibu put 202/160 valves in heads to keep original heads mild cam 9.15-1 comp. and i'm getting 16 mpg on highway but i get that mileage with my big block impala 427 4-speed 3.73 gears. Do i need to get higher gears in chevelle to get into power band on motor?
rear end ratio
Can you figure out the ratio buy spinning drive shaft by hand and counting times rear tire turns around. I tryed and got drive shaft one revolution and 1.25 on the tire. Maybe i did something wrong it is in 1971 malibu build sheet says it has a 2.56 rear end.
