Hey Bill, remember a while back I ask your opinion on a rearend noise? It turned out to be pinion bearings, especially the front one! It was bad! The noise got so bad that I had to do something before the Hot Rod Power Tour. Glad I did! Put it back together with the same pinion shim. Like new! My wife says it doesn't sound like it needs to be shifted any more. Also when I popped the axles, I discovered a pitted bearing surface on one. I used one of the offset axle bearings for the first time. I like that.
Scooter, thanks again for the crush sleeve. Several people have said to put the old one on a piece of pipe or something and hammer the flare to make it longer and save it since they are no longer made. So I tried that.

No problem, DZ!
Glad you fixed it, and glad to help!

BTW, they are no longer made by GM, but they are available through other suppliers! That's where I got the sleeve I sent you, from another supplier. They are readily available and cost only a few bucks.

Keep in mind that stock gears use the longer crush sleeve on the 8.2 ten-bolt, but aftermarket gears use the short crush sleeve.
