So I just replaced my axles bearings and rear brakes..I don't think that's relevant but worth mentioning. I also then paid someone to replace my pinion seal because once I fixed the axle seal it was leaking like a siiv at the pinion seal.

Now there are a few drops of oil under the car right under the pinion nut after i drive it and then park it back in the garage.

Pinion nut not tight enough? he said he didn't replace the crush washer. could it just be that? planning on taking it back to the shop unless I can do something myself here.

Without the sealant on the splines the gear oil seaps out and there's your leak. But how much is it leaking ? if the guy doing the repair was ham fisted he could have knocked the spring out of the seal when he installed it.That would cause a bigger leak right away.

Do not put sealant on the splines of the pinion shaft. Only put sealant in the splines in the yoke. If you put it on the pinion shaft the yoke will push it into the outer pinion bearing. If you put it in the splines in the yoke then it just gets pushed out toward the pinion nut where it doesn't do any damage.

Wasn't there also something about pinion seals and certain ones were too deep and they ride on the end of the seal and you need to make a .060 spacer when putting it in on some seals today. I know there are 2 or 3 seal types for a 12 bolt and I ordered 2 of them to see and yes they have different seal depths. I think there is a video from a shop on this out there.

When I re sealed mine I had to build a .060 shim to get it out to the right spot. Seal the time splines
