I have a 67 el camino small block, 10 bolt. I was scavagening the junk yards this weeken and found a 65 camino with a 12 bolt in it:D. i bought it on the spot for $300. does anyone know if it will bolt in?? from what i have read it should bolt right in. i thought $300 was a good price too. any thoughts???

you will need the spring hold down plates. other then that bolt in deal.

spring hold down plates??? the rearend came with the rear springs attached(bolted) to the rear end. then i should be good to go. i am going to take my wire wheel to the rear end when i get home. where are the casting number and other important information at on the rear end???

Code numbers on the housing will tell you what it was born as,not necessarily what it is now.
Get the housing casting number to be sure what it is though - should be 3859140N for a 65. .
Pull the cover and have a look-see ,also a lube change wouldn't hurt.
If it's a posi ,don't forgert to use either the GM or Ford posi lube whether or not the gear lube you buy has it or not.

Awesome. its a 3:31 posi i cant believe it . i have been slowly looking for a 12 bolt for the last 6 years and now i have a posi. i am excited to have found it for $300 the junk yard didnt know what they had. the 65 camino has lots of parts on it still.
