I just installed a 12 bolt in my 64. I always have heard that you have to set the angle of the rear end when you put in a newrear. Is this true and if so hjow do you do it? Any help yould be great.

If you are using the stock links there is no adjustment. If you want to adjust it you need adjustable uppers or something like SSM bars. Just typed in some tips in the brake section under pinion angles a few minutes ago.
When I purchased my adjustable rear end set up from Hotchkis in the instructions they had an article from a magazine giving a good explanation about pinion angle set up.
I will see if I can find out where the article was from and do a search on the web to find it and post it here.
troy is right some of the 64 chevelles had adj upper control arms.
I also have a set of the stock adj upper arms. They are now replaced with after market arms....sorry cant remember the angle to set the pinion at.....
troy i have adjustable rear control arms and mine are factory. there is a bolt with a washer either welded or stampedto it.the washer has a hole driled through it and a line going across it. the line and hole will line up with the line on the control arm.hope this helps. luke
This is a little off topic, but how much are the factory uppers worth? The only set I've ever seen were given to me, and I sold them at a swap meet for $25. Sorry for interupting the conversation. Jason
Thanks alot guys for all the info. It helped. I did not see the line on the control arm. I guess Its about time I got under there and did a good cleaning job, Ha! Again, thanks alot.
