70 SS Convertible Rear Drum. There is a fork that goes under the wheel cylinder between the brake shoes. On the fork there is a little tab on the side that the spring goes on (spring goes on only one end).

My question: which shoe does the spring side go on, the shoe that has the emergency brake and adjuster piece on it or the side that only has the hold down spring?

Neither the Chevrolet Chassis service manual nor the Clymer book show enough illustrations to answer the question.

As always, Thanks for the help,

Andy,
The spring goes on toward the FRONT of the car. That means it will be against the primary (front) shoe and the back end goes against the emer brake lever which is attached toward the upper portion of the secondary (rear) shoe. Each side will be a mirror image.
