My two 66 rears had backing plate bolts that were grade 8 RWB stamped on the head, 3/8 fine thread 1" bolt. I would suspect 1970 would be similar. You might want to check out the AMK Products site. They have a lot of the reproduction bolts. They sell a bolt for this application with an E on the head, grade 8 3/8-24x1.0 B-10169

I would expect there were other suppliers, like TR, etc.

You should be a Chassis Service Manual and a Assembly Instruction Manual, if you don't have them.

Know what you mean. PCU 4 covers the rear axel; but the rear axel assembly came from the axel plant with the backing plates installed, so not even a part # for those bolts.

If you have the AMK catalog and the part #, you could look it up and see if they currently make a reproduction.I think the number is 9427161 or 186627, Which is B- 10169 on page 16 of their catalog. If there were a couple of different head marking, AMK only reproduceds one head mark. AMK is where all the venders get their reproduction bolts Take a look at their catalog. http://www.amkproducts.com/

Backing plate bolt also used a lock washer and nut, not a lock nut like shown on site from the vender in new york.
