69 Chevelle with a 383 stroker, running 500hp, Hughes Tranny 700r4,3200 stall from United Racing engines. I need a new alternator, preferably chrome. Any suggestions?
are you looking for a 1-wire or a 3-wire type of unit?
do you know the difference?
do you have stock wiring now?
what electrical equipment are you intending to run?
elec fans,
elec water pump,
stereo amps,
elec fuel pump,
ign boxes,
etc,???
photo shows a 12si-model alternator w/internal regulator...
78Amp & 94Amp are the most common factory outputs
looks like the red wire on terminal #2 is short and connected to the bat.-terminal on the alt.
this a short cut way of wiring a 3-wire alt.= not the best or most efficient method as the #2 terminal is for the sense wire and should be connected to the horn relay bus bar to regulate the proper voltage in the system at the sense point...
