Get the story here. It appears there might be a Chinese involvement...and makes me wonder, again, how safe the human food supply is:

Someone close to the investigation tells ABC News that rodenticide, a chemical which the source says is illegal to use in the United States, was on wheat that was imported from China and used by Menu Foods in nearly 100 brands of dog and cat food. In the last week, there have been at least 15 confirmed deaths of pets tied to contaminated food. (ABC News)

Food ingredients that cannot meet "human" food grade standards are often sold as animal grade... and pesticides that are not registered for use in the US are still produced here and sold for use overseas... Think of this next time you buy something that hasnt been USDA inspected.

There are some real sad events from this unfortunately. My brother-in-law works at a local Vet hospital and so far they have had about six cats sick from the food in question, one has died thus far. The other cats are not doing well at all and have IV's hooked up as we speak. My wife and I sure hope our Cats and Dogs will not be effected.

My dogs were fed one of the known toxic foods near Christmas time. They both got ill from it, and we didnt know why. Gonna have them checked for kidney damage. If theres something wrong, id love to put a lawsuit against Imnes (sp?).
