First off, I'm glad I don't have nice paint like some of you guys. I mean, I'm not rat or beater enough to really pull off the look, but it sure gives me peace of mind when I hop in the car for a jaunt down I-5. Case in point, I was behind a Winnebago Saturday running south to Edmonds and a Flatbed tow-truck in front of the behemoth RV had a Minivan on it shedding parts like mad. After about the fifth bit of dead Caravan ($%!^! Chrysler anyhow) banged off the side of me I was able to find some room to get out of the danger zone.

Donut Gaskets kinda suck. The right side donut seems to have failed... This is the one I replaced in the spring. I'm hoping it comes completely apart like it did last time, cause that at least sounded cool. It's possible this has to do with the thing getting pulled apart every time I torque the motor.

I'm starting to catch up to the car, I need to put the drums/shoes on the ass, swap in a new right motor mount (any knowledge on doing this would be helpful!), new plug wires and looms to keep them from burning, and then maybe I can start thinking about fun stuff like Chads cam and my 4bbl setup, and possibly spending a little money on my other toys.

Although, I saw this ridiculous thing Monday and decided that if I could, I would SO trade my Chevelle for it. It's just so... Seventies.

Meanwhile an RC buddy of mine from another forum I'm on wants me to sell him the Chevelle (He lives in Ohio, good ones are hard to find and expensive I guess.) to make it into a street stocker ala this-

I'd much rather see her get hammered on as a race car then end up parts for another Malibu or SS clone, but thats a hard life with only one ending.

Most guys with nice paint don't daily drive their Chevelles....and they usually drive A LOT farther from traffic than normal. I know I did. About the Chryslers....hey now, my great uncle used to own a Dodge dealership in Eatonville and that side of my family is MOPAR nuts(I like 'em too). If it were a Ford remark, I'd let it go:D.

Thanks John!

Problem with freeways is, if you leave yourself a nice spot, someone always takes it away.

I've always identified with FERD more than Mopar, One of my buddies from High School has a '63 Falcon Wagon thats currently being used as a garbage can/storage, I'd like to convince him to get the crap out of it and figure out whats wrong with it (or, what isn't wrong with it.)

One of my dads buds is DIEHARD Mopar, he's got like, 8 darts... None of them run though. (Too busy on the son's Feather-Duster clone and Boeings backlog I guess.)

Some Fords are OK as long as you put a Chevy engine in them....I just despise their backwards drivetrain engineering. Mustangs are a good example of this, '60s up through the '93 Fox bodies.

Example:

Ford: Multiple types of transmissions depending on what engine size, engine family and whether or not it's an FE block (Ford Experimental...I think everything of theirs is experimental:D).

Mopar: Big block or small block bellhousing specific...can be annoying if you have one and not the other, but still not like the Fords.

Chevy: Bolt any Chevrolet V8 transmission up!!!!

BOP: compatible with their own V8 bellhousing style which is very similar to Chevy, but still just one style.

Chrysler has some great stock parts, big and beefy...but expensive and harder to find due to production numbers. We all know what Ford really stands for....and since the Dodge brothers sold parts to Ford in the early 1900s, guess where all the good parts came from???? Dodge made enough money off of selling parts to Ford, they started making their own trucks. Then were bought by Chrysler which saw the potential market of sturdy and well built pickup trucks. Dodge makes a good truck, always has.

So, that's my take on it.....buy/build a Chevy muscle car/race car, and drive a Dodge pickup truck for towing/work duty. Whatever you do, just don't put a Ford engine in anything.
