Back in the 70's I worked for the SLSF railroad. I worked on a section gang for the Santa Fe for a short while, and I worked for a company called Kelly Hill Railroad contractors, we came in after major derailments and repaired track and laid new.

Lets say I never got to see the fancy equipment in that video in my day. I know all too well how rail is put down the old fashion way.

BTW, the video worked fine for me.

I tried to get the video to work again and it worked this time. Im a big railroad fanatic and this video is actually about 5 years old. Somewhere in Europe if I recall. Regarding concrete ties. They do last a long time and the Union Pacific uses concrete ties in a lot of areas in the US.

Wonder if the concrete tie's will last longer than the wooden ones.
Doubt it.
Concrete last longer than the wood and also absorbs more vibration and lets the train have a better ride.
