Hey folks,
I need to replace the radiator cap on my 72 velle with a 400 sb. What is the right pressure cap for this? TIA,

It's nothing that requires an exactness. just a 8-12 pound one from the local parts store will do the trick. I like the ones with a flip top piece for venting pressurized H20.

If you don't want boil-over problems, I believe a 16 pound cap was called for.

12 would be OK, but IMO, 16 is better to help prevent boil overs. I also like the ones with the flip top piece.

Don't know about 12lb caps because here in NC we can only get 7/13/or 16 pounders. I suggest a 13 (12?) because of less stress on the rubber and copper/brass parts. Plus that pressure cap will take your boiling point way above what is healthy for your motor. As a PS: My GM service manual says that an idiot light will come on at 248 degrees (+/-2) if its working correctly. Way too hot!!!!!
