After reading about the weight savings and the overall clean-up of the engine compartment on IMAKEHP's thread, I was wondering if there would be any issues driving a 4000 pound car with a rack steering system on the street.

The car usually sees 1500-2000 miles per summer. Is anyone driving their car with a rack on the street or is it strickly a race set up?

Thanks!

Although YearOne built that 67 Chevelle for a give away and it had a rack,I didn't feel that the 1800 bucks that Flamming River quoted me,justified the 30 pounds of weight savings.
I did however spend 300 bucks on a set of Alum.Calipers from Wilwood, whick cut almost half that off the nose.

Thanks Eric,

No, that would be too steep of a price for me as well. I have also been thinking about the wilwood brakes my my car.

So, am I reading this right, you bought the calipers only and used the factory rotor? Cool, how does it stop? Better or worse from the stock calipers? Those things are heavy.
