quick help please, ran into some surprises...
I got the quarter armrest covers I ordered today (66 convertible), and began removing the old ones. Two surprises I'm not sure what to do about. Quick help would be greatly appreciated, I'm psyched to get this project started tomorrow morning:
1. Cardboard. There's a layer of cardboard between the vinyl and the metal. Do I need to replace this, does it serve a purpose? It's damaged, I need to remove it but can I just adhere the vinyl right to the metal??
2. The top surface of the armrest had a layer of insulation-type stuff, I guess to give it a slightly padded look/feel. Seems to be about 1/4" thick. What can I use to recreate this? It seems almost like carpet padding.
