For you guys who race the TKO 600's - Do you launch with a total side step of the clutch or just letting it out normally? Also what are you launching the car at ( RPM ) with stickys?

Good thread!

Seeing that you guys are side stepping at 4200 rpms+ with stickies mean my car will last a long time w/the way I drive!

Are you guys backing off the throttle (powershifting?) when shifting?

Guys, how's your 1st gear w/the 3.73's and 4.11's

Sorry for the mild highjack.

No prob. I am not planning on powershifting mine because the guys at Classic said that is the fastest way to destroy one. I will try coming of the line in both 1st & 2nd to see which is better. 1st just hits the limiter on the street faster than I can let up on it. :D

I let off slightly when shifting and drop my clutch at about 4500 rpm. I have only done about 10 clutch dumps, I am afraid of hurting something from the extreme shock. I have not tried starting in second though, isnt that going to be really hard on the clutch? I have 28" tall tires and 373's and first gear goes by fast, but I like it the way it is. Because I just have a 350 right now, it works out well for getting out of the hole.

I can only afford to do it once unfortunately (the gears).

1st gear felt pretty good for me w/the M20 and 3.31's/28" tire.

I would think 3.73's or even 3.90's would be about perfect - we'll have to see where my motor wants to cruise at I guess.

From the sound of it sounds like 3.73's and up are a bit to steep for the TKO600's 2.87 first gear. Sounds like a 3.42 to 3.55 would be perfect for guys with some cubes.

The 3:73's are about as high as you would want to go & still use 1st gear for anything. On the flip side it sure gets the car going........

It sure is fun to play with! When I rebuild the rear, will probably change from the 4:10 to 3:73. There are so many variables to deal with, tire diameter, rear gear ratio, motor torque - you don't want to lug the motor in high gear. If you went any lower than the 3:73 with the .64 overdrive it might be to much unless you had a pretty stout engine. I think that if I went any lower in gears, I would probably use the .82 overdrive ratio to keep the engine from lugging.
