I have a bunch of VHS movies from 15-20 years ago and I really want to get them transferred before they're shot. Does anyone have any recommended places to use? There are a few that are slightly fuzzy, at least with color bleeding and I was wondering if there are any that remaster them, that'd be great. I did a google search and there are many to choose from. Any suggestions?

just buy the movies on dvd- most movies from that long ago can be found in the $4 bin at Wal Mart.
you can also buy home dvd recorders, and Radio Shack used to sell a box for a few bucks that was advertised as a way to get rid of "interference" when recording movies, but what it really did was defeat the copyright protection that was on VHS movies in the 80's.

Not that I would ever advocate anything illegal or immoral :D, but there are evil methods of copying DVDs out there on the WWW.
Rent the flicks you want off of Netflix or wherever and copy them. Quality will be soooo much better than copying your worn-out VHS tapes. A whole lot easier and cheaper, too.

Do you have a Mini DV video camera? Most made within the last few years have a built in analog to digital converter. I used our Canon video camera between the computer running iMovie and my 1986 vintage VCR. Then I used another piece of freeware to convert the DV format to AVI (due to the size of the DV files). Then you can burn the AVI files to DVD.

I believe its Andinese:D
HAHAHAH - I have a dvd /vcr combo, you can make your own dvd's, or vice-versa. Like others are saying, if they are movies then you might just want to buy new ones/burn from the web on to you comp.I have to say, analog blows digital away in a lot of fields IMO. I can see the digitization on tv now whan they show some old movies thay must have been on tape orig.Same with audio, a tape, record, have sound that has life, cd or digital is so blah, no character. I also want my analog delay pedal back for guitar as the digital one just does not hold up sound wise. I could go on, but enough rant for one post.

Actually I meant home movies from a camcorder, not regular tv movies, I should've been more specific. :p
