I just got my springs and screw jacks from Speedway. The springs are 1000# and the screw jacks are the smaller version (0" to 2-1/5"). I first installed them in their lowest possible position. I need about another inch of ride height for tire clearance with a 245/45/R17. The problem now is that they do not want to come unscrewed. The two metal plates are flat against each other and there is nothing good to grip it by. I was thinking about welding something to each piece so I can get them to seperate. I dont have a strap wrench, which I thought may be helpful. Let me know if any of y'all have any nifty ideas before I go nuts with a welder. Thanks!

I had a similar problem with mine, although they never even had any weight on them. I hit them with a hammer a few times to knock it loose so they'd turn.

When you do adjust them, remember if you need 1" higher ride-height, you only need to adjust the screw jacks about 1/2". Because they are about half the distance from the pivot to the ball-joint, any change you make to the spring-height will be doubled at ride-height.

BTW, What height springs do you have? I've got 9.5" springs with the height adjusters set at 2", and I'm hoping it's right when I get weight on it.

You could try using an air or manual chisel and hit into the edge of one of the plates on a bit of an angle. This will damage the edge but the chisel should cut into the edge enough you can drive it at an angle and get it to come loose.

Did a search on screw/weight jacks and came up with your post. I am thinking about getting a set for the front of my 72 and was wondering if they came with install instructions from Speedway. I have never installed a set.

No Dave, no instructions. Pretty basic though, if you can get that far into the suspension on your own it should be self explanitory.
