I have and issue with the power steering pump hitting the gearbox. When i first got the car it had manual steering so i decided to upgrade to a JGC gearbox and got a P/S pump but after trying to install it the pump hits one of the bolts off of the gearbox. Also the pump comes into contact with the pump line and won't let me pull the pump any further back in order to get it nice and tight.

The lower bracket is correct for the 68 block that i have. It also has a short water pump with alternator on the driver side which makes avoiding the belt that is on it hard. I can grind down the bolt to get me some room but the hard line is another matter. I don't understand, is the gearbox bigger than the earlier GM versions? Below are pictures.

swap out that bolt to a smaller head style.Looks like a different bolt than the others in the pic. Also can loosen the mtr. mt bolts and shift it a little, may have settled.

A shorter belt puts even more pressure onto that bolt to the point i might have to remove it completely and if i do move it that way the alternator belt then begins to rub onto the pump.

Would it be possible for me to just convert to a left side style alternator setup with long water pump and just get new pulleys?
