I've been thinking of getting a polished alumimum intake and was wondering what I can do to protect the finish. I have done a search on a product called Zoops but did not have much luck. Does this product work well? I understand it is somewhat expensive, but I have a gift certificate to Jegs and it is burning a hole in my pocket.:)

Your comments/opinions are appreciated.

Thanks,

Bart

Edelbrock has that endura shine coating that's supposed to stay polished on its own.

Otherwise, I can only think of two options: clear coat it, or keep it waxed often.

If you decide to clear coat use a high quality spray. Most are not to resistant to the gas that will eventually drip down onto that sprayed clear.

Another problem is that some clear coats yellow after exposure to the heat and gas fumes. I left mine polished and every now and then I go in there with some polish and give it a wipe. I wouldn't recommend painting them, although clear powder coat is something I have not considered yet.
