Well here are a few shots of what I have been working on latley. Yes Rob and Andy I have been working..... it's slowly coming together after 6 years of sitting in the garage. :D Should be rust free when it's done.

This was my first 1/4 panel install. I used Evercoat Maxium Medium Panel adhesive along the lip/rocker/door edges/rear wheel. I welded the seam along the roof.

Anyway, take a look at the gaps on the doors and let me know if I'm getting close. Was thinking of laying a coat of filler alon the edges of the door and 1/4 with the door closed to get a nice sharp line. Good idea? Bad Idea?

Door Brace:

Door Skin: (here you go Andy)

1/4 Epoxied Inside:

Door epoxied and 1/4 installed:

Roof Prep:

Door Gaps: How are these gaps looking? More fitting and griding? Not sure here

Andy needs a list:

Curses. Brad has gotten to you too!

I'll have you know the body is about to come off. :p

Looks really good Jason, you've been working. Now, if we can just get Rob to work on his floor pans. I think they collapsed under their own weight due to the removal of too much metal, and he is too embarrased to admit it :)

I think he's busy doing the submolecular analysis of the steel he wants to use to build his door supports. Jeff and I were going to harass him when I was up in that area last weekend, but we didn't want to distract him from that car :)

Looks like a good job on the door skin!

Run a da sander in grinder mode to really clean it up, I use 180 grit. Check out my door skin photos for what am talking about.

Just looks like you have a slight curve issue. Place a 4X4 on the edge of the door, close door and tweak the shell til fits right, go slow.

Jason, that door skin looks mighty fine, I'm proud of you.

Your question on the filler on the door gaps, negatory.

I was just thinking, you don't do to bad a work, for a youngster.

If you did it, I would like to see somebody get a seat belt wedged fried into that door jam and take a chunk of filler out of it. Probably would look like a big snapping turtle attacked it.:D

hey Jason how did you put that skin on? Just like Eric's how to? How aobut your welds....
This was a full 1/4 panel, no skin. Used glue and screwed the panel together and clamped it in as many spots as I could clamp. When there were not enough clamps, I put more screws. Sanded down the screw holes and filled up with fiberglass filler and sanded smooth.

Now that I think about it, I think you meant door skin.... Ya I read Erics how to about 3x a day at work, then failed to notice he had a rubber dolly. He also mentioned to hold the dolly tight up against the panel. No welds on my skin, 100% glued!!! That [email protected] is strong too. No way that thing is moving.

Here's some more progress tonight... 2 coats of SPI epoxy ...ready for skim coat later....ran outta black SPI!!!! Oh NO!!!! LOL time for 2 more gallons to finish off the frame undercarriage. I love SPI!!!

Anyone know why I'm getting dry spots? Maybe Eric can chime in .... Think I'm either moving to fast with the gun or need to crank up the fluid level. Some spots it's nice, others a little dry looking, compare below. Think I'm going to shoot a guide coat over the epoxy and then get the AFS long board and start blocking some spots and hit it with another coat of reduced epoxy.

Wet:

Sorry, Rob I've tried DP and hated it. Don't try to justify an inferior product :D SPI epoxy is the only thing I'll use. Hands down can't be beat for price, 2 sprayable gallons for $130. I would bathe in it if I could.... hehe

Floors sanded down now ready for SPI....You to Rob....get 2 work. :D

I had to hold something I was priming, I ended up with 2 heavy coats of SPI on my arm. Boy-o-boy that was fun at school the next day.

I scrubbed like hell with lacquer thinner and scotchbrites, but once it started getting raw, I stopped.

Another reason to suit up, I guess.
