So I lost a ring land on my old KB hypereutectic pistons, and am gonna swap them out with a forged set. I've read good reviews on the probe pistons for the price and its about the same price as a new set of the same KBs I have. My only problem is the Probe FRS pistons in the description say pressed or floating pin, and in the tech info they list press pin only. I have eagle forged I-beams that are floating and I've tried to find whether or not they P2465f probe frs pistons have the groove for locks for the floating pin or not. I emailed probe and a few sellers of them and have not received a response yet.

SO does anyone know for sure they come with the wrist pin lock groove for floating pins or not?

You must mean the FPS piston. I see the contradiction on the website. You can call Probe in CA and they should be able to answer your question. 310 784 2977.

UPDATE: Just spoke with our Probe rep and he said that all the FPS series pistons are cut for spirolocks. He's aware of the tech. error and is trying to get that changed.
Hope that helps.

I do. We added spiral lock grooves to the entire FPS Series about fthree years ago. I'll go in this weekend and fix the website.

Also, Probe pistons aren't just a good piston for the price......they're just flat out a good piston. They're made of the same material, on the same machines as the most expensive pistons on the market today.

The FPS Series currently only differs from the SRS in that they use wide rings. If you're going to make enough RPM to float the rings, you might look at the SRS Series. But, other than that, they are a superior product to anything in their price range.

And thanks, Steve, for letting me know this is here. I had actually forgotten that I was a member of this board....:)

No, I'm sorry, we don't.

I haven't looked in a while, but there never used to be a decent ring set in .040.
1/16-3/16 Plasma Moly are available but limited
Total Seal has 040 & 045,, Sealed Power .040 & I think that is about it,,,,,,
Anything else, 1.5, 043 etc,, you are pretty much out of luck

Darn it.. Looks like I may need to go to a .060 over piston and re bore. I have a blow by issue with a fairly new 491 and want to change out the KB hypers when I tear it down. Was hoping to just hone and re balance, not bore too.

Wolfplace is just north of you (in this thread and your state :D) and is a Probe dealer and does a heck of a nice job boring cylinders.
I'd bet he has excellent prices on the Probes.

I have got to have that changed. All of the BBC pistons are floated. FPS and SRS. What it means is that you can use either a pressed or floated rod.

Oh heck ... I didn't notice the age of the thread.
I don't think there's any time limit, on "good useful information" ... when people search for "Probe piston- floating pin info" in the future, they'll find your informed answer posted in black & white. It's never too late to correct a mistake.
