ok guys, so we know pro systems kicks ass but is it worth it??
i am building a 11-1 496, afr 315cnc, solid roller motor, that should be in the 700 hp range at flywheel, i have a bg 850 carb thats about out of the box.
it does not have adjustable air bleeds,.
should i keep it?? or go with what patrick spec'd me out with a 1000cfm 4150 with dominator metering, with aggressive fuel curve etc for 790??? let me know what you guys thinkg

Did you ask about sending him the 850 and letting him do that. I sent him my out of the box 1050 off of my 509 and he set it up for the 548. All the mods he did cost $450 and the thing was dead on when it ran on the dyno.

That sounds like the same 1000HP Patrick built for me for a 13 to 1 compression .030" over 454. That carb was worth a solid tenth in ET over a previous old Brad Urban's Carb Shop 850 (low 10 second 3500 lb car).

Consider this...a box stock 1000HP is $699 from Summit and This 1000HP was $790...your basically getting a custom tailored carb, plus Patricks 24/7 tech support for $90. Seems very reasonable to me. This is my third carb from Patrick with the first being purchased back in the mid/late 1990's.

Oh I guess I should have read better. I didn't realize it was a BG carb. I saw out of the box and automatically thought stock carb. Oops!

are you sure it is 1000CFM? cuz a stock 1000HP only flows 850cfm. Although I am sure it is entirely possible to work it to flow 1000. I think if you spent $3,000 on AFR cnc'd heads and all that other stuff why not. But if you could pick up a HP or demon carb on ebay or somewhere for like 4-500 dollars and tune it up yourself that might be a cheaper and equal route

cody here is some info for you, this is what patrick emailed to me.
"I rework them to flow what the application requires.
CFM, isn't tough to get, you just increase the setting
on the mill and make the hole bigger. : )

You'll probably be in the REAL 940 cfm range."

so there you have it, it depends on application on how much he mills, but in my 496/700 hp configuration he will modify it to flow about 940 cfm.
