Don't confuse this guy with my buddy Tom Minnick, aka, "wildman" who used to post here when he owned a 72Ss chevelle. HE sold that car to a guy on long island. He is now building a Willys street rod and just dipped into the 7s with his 67 comaro drag car.

The stamping is a touch taller than 7/16", and looks more like the font from Space Invaders than the one you're wanting to use. Make sure that you stagger the numbers a little (from side to side) as the assembly line workers did - that's where most restamps are spotted. :D

They're the same ones who find Jesus when they go to prison.

maybe, he has a chance at a block, and was checking the authenticity...and by the way, my grandfather stormed iwo jima, started meals on wheels for seniors, helped anybody that needed it. he was a deeply devouted catholic. for those of you that don't believe in organized religion, that's fine, but don't judge those that do. it's easy to find jerks in any walk of life. using this type of judgement, to justify your view, is just as short sighted as, an unhonorable man, who hides behind religion. lets face it, even though we have found many great people in our hobby, there are many people who take advantage. most talk of finding that holy grail of cars. find an unaware owner, that doesn't realize the value of thier ride, then selling it to another for that "killing", many are willing to make. the people on this sight, have been very generous to me, and i hope when the facts come out, that this guy was just looking for help, and not to screw somebody, and i hope we learn not to call others names, because we don't understand the paths they take. when it's all said and done, the big guy, will make those judgements.....some people do rediculas things in the name of religion, but i doubt few here would tell an old guy, asking 10% of the value of his hemi car, that he could get more $. most would take it, and brag about the deal they just got, all in the name of thier hobby. i'm starting to understand why our buddy beaux, doesn't check in here as much as he used to.

I thought about that but this guy registered on this site the day I got the PM and he has never posted a message on any of the forums. I'm trying to figure out why out of all the members here, he picked me to ask about the engine stamping.

do you know about engine stamping? i hope this guy isn't going to do, something stupid. sad thing is, we've probably helped people take advantage of others. not on purpose, but some of these guys are so knowledgable, that i'm sure some of the info shared here, has not always been used for good. kinda like when the news broadcast's, it's perfect weather for brush fires, then some bonehead goes and lights a fire.....there have been some dubious charachters here in the past, and a few recently (cracked block guy). i hope this site stays as informative as it is. i've met some great people, and had, tons of help, threw this site. it continues to be a great place for the hobby, and some day i hope, not to be the bastard child, with the cutlass, and elky, but a boneified real chevelle owner.....

I don't know anything about engine stamping. I wouldn't know a restamped block if I saw one. I posted about me buying an engine a week or so ago but it has been decked and has nothing on the pad. I figured this guy PMed several people trying to get a response but no one else has mentioned getting the same message.

For those offended by the "religious" statments....

I THINK the point was that we often meet religious people.... (great, no problem)

And we also meet people who seem to wear religion as a special decoder ring that should give them some kind of special rights...
THOSE people I'm leary about...

no different than any other walk of life. i've met car people, who think it's thier right to screw less informed people, and look at some of the "executives" in big corp. (enron) trusted people who took advantage. i understand what your saying, i'm a spiritual man, and sometimes that isn't enough for hardcore religious people, and i hear that if i'm not right with god, i'll pay the price. an dishorable man, will hide behind anything he can find, wether that's religion, education, his place in society, etc. there was a church going, scout leader, two doors down, from where i grew up, he went to prison for molesting, not only children, but some of his own children. in court, his lawyer hid behind his standing in the community, and church, luckily the jury didn't buy it. being spiritual or religious, doesn't make you one of these people, anymore than being a car guy gives you the right to screw people. heres a basic question. if you were spiritual, or religious, would you be dishonorable? probably not, and not being spiritual or religious, doesn't make you dishonorable, but these type of people are everywhere you go, just as there are honorable people everywhere you go. by the way, i bought a home from a minister a couple years back, biggest p.o.s. i've ever done business with, but when i was a kid, a gay, black, minister kept me off the street, and never approached me in an unacceptable manner, or ever asked anything of me, than to be a honest man. it takes all kinds. wether a scout leader, minister, executive or what ever, to be a humble, honest, honorable man, should be the goal of everybody. doesn't mean you can't be successful, just means you should work to get there, and not taking advantage of others in the process....funny if we get to the other side, and gods only pet peeve, is we didn't eat our peas, when mom said to.....
