My 1966 Chevelle 396 with power steering is hard to steer at an idle. If I turn a corner, I have to rev the engine for it to be turn properly (like it's power steering). We just rebuilt the power steering pump, and it didn't help. Any help is very much appreciated.

I own a couple of Chevelles 66 427/68 396/70 454/ had the same problem on my 68' changed pump and hoses all is set problem is history , Bob Rizzi

Thanks, Bob; I have a 66 396. We had the last pump rebuilt. Would you recommend getting a new pump instead?

Bob,I replaced the pump with a rebuilt unit and replaced the hoses.the high pressure hose which did not leak (the original gm) was found to be the problem:OLD!!!!! / Bob Rizzi
