I am thinking about changing out the steering box in my 65 Chevelle to a newer, quick ratio box. My question is, if I change to a newer box it will no doubt require power steering fluid, my old pump uses dexron. Do I continue using dexron or start using power steering fluid? Do I need to change to a later model pump as well? Any help would be appreciated.

Marvin,

Yes, you should use PS fliud with the new box. As for the pump, I've been using my stock pump with a new box for the past 3 years with no problems. However, you may be able to find a new pump with metric fittings that will fit your application.

Good Luck,
