Recently a member posed a question re storing a bigblock (in a garage I believe)and how often to turn it over etc...I think someone advised to turn the motor over by hand, and to "make sure the rocker arms were contacting the valve stems"....WHAT, if any, damage could occur from handcranking a motor with the rocker arms backed off of the valve stems (with the spark plugs very loose or out) ??

You won't be able to turn it over by hand with the cylinders sealed(well very slowly maybe as air gets by rings). You can however if the sparkers are removed.
No damage if the rockers are backed off and sparkers removed.

Cool !
That's the scenario as you described, with the plugs backed way off...I feel a good resistance, but she turns good enough...Thanks Harley
