I got a VERY good look at one today, and man I gotta tell you that those things are SMALL.

I was thinking.."O.K.If I ever decided to fork over the cash for this thing, where would I:

Put my Groceries
Put my Clothes
Put my lady friends kids
Put things that I bought at the Mall

Where would I put ANYTHING other then myself

Althought it really is a very nice car, to me that this seems to be just a tad too small for what they are asking....sheesh

The Saturn Sky is a littel better looking also I think.
I agree Micky...I like the Saturn version better.
Sizewise...about the same as Momma's Crossfire. Or the Corvettes and Miatias she's owned before that. When buying a two seater, you've gotta accept the vehicle's limitations. This type of car is not really practical...It's a toy.
You want to haul kids and groceries...buy a SUV. ;)

I would have already bought one (or more likely the Saturn version) for the wife, 'cept I don't even come close to fitting (6'4" - 260). Believe it or not, she actually wants to take me along sometime. Same for the Crossfire - the wife loves it, but it's even tighter than the GM products.

They look ok but too small for me, I wouldnt take any chances in a small car. Iam used to driving my big truck and always liked running over those bugs when they get in your way:D

I did a quick check and I can buy a '94 LT4 LT4 Corvette with 12,400 miles for $28.9K. CDN I saw a new Saturn Sky Redline for $39K CDN. I'll take the Vette. At least it has room for some suitcases and will probably hold it's value better over time. The Solstice and Sky are nice cars but can only be used for a two person commute and Sunday drives. Pretty impractical beyond that. We already have our old cars for the Sunday afternoons.

We got our 06 Solstice at MSRP when it was still $19,995; with options ours was $22,400. I'm 6'1". and it just fits. Since we're empty nester's, there are no kids, and we can fit a week's worth of groceries in the trunk. I've got a pickup and SUV for bigger stuff. I personally like the Solstice's looks better than the Sky; I think the Sky will eventually look dated, where the Solstice wont.

Is it worth $30k? No

I don't know if it'd be my first choice of a car for travelling, but I don't really have that problem. ;) The wife's Solstice GXP is right on in the power to weight ratio, car corners like it's on rails, and can get out of it's own way too. 260hp, 260 lb-ft torque, and you don't have to rev it to the moon to get the turbo to spool. In fact, turbo lag is all but non-existant due to a dual scroll turbine and direct injection on the engine. Having the kids in school means only driving it on weekends, usually. Is it worth the $30k paid for it? Probably not in utility, but smile factor, and keeping the wife happy so I can continue my projects, definitely. ;)

I sell the Solstice, and other GM's, for a living. We order them all full balls loaded. They never sit around waiting for a buyer. Most of the buyers are 45 +, empty nesters, who now have the cash to enjoy a fun toy.

My approach to selling them to the ol' boys is , " Heck, there isn't any room in there for much but you, your girlfriend, and your credit card." The ol' boy chuckles, the wife turns red, and off they go in their sweet lil Solstice.

This car is about feeling good, and practical be damned.

If cars were priced based on size alone, I'd be driving a Lotus Elise. ;) It's pretty silly to think that because a car is small it has to be cheap. But maybe that's why everyone feels the need to drive around in behmoth suv's and pickups these days.

Aren't these supposed to be in the low 20's?
I like the looks of them, I had a couple of Fiero's back in the day & really liked them, About the same size (I think)
