i would like to put a pair of speakers in the door of my 68 el camino.

i figured they should go in the front bottom corner, but does anybody know what would fit. i was planning on getting some 6 1/2" pioneers.

also any thoughts on the placement, as far as how far from the edge.

i have the 6 1/2 right now but am going to change to 6 1/2 alpine componet set so i can have the little tweeder right by the vent window handel. One thing make sure your bottom window handle dosen't hit your speaker grill. i forgot to check and now my window crank hit it a little.

I would recommend you not to tear the door pads.. You can put the speakers on the side panels (between the door and where the high beam switch is..)

I did that in my car.. (I have 4 speakers.. 100watt 2 speakers at the front, and 250watt 2 speakers at the rear)

It is really good.
I would really not recommand to do it in the door.. Where i did it is much more easy to work on, because the panels can come out and your don't have to work inside the car. While in the door you'll have to drill the door as well... In there you don't.

thanks steve. i'll keep the placement around the crank in mind.

shai- i thought about that also but i really like the vents that are there. and my car is so cut up and modified as it is a little bit of metal cut out won't hurt. plus i don't have origional or even repro'd door panels.
