I bought a Eagle rotating assy for a 540 BBC. The piston to crank clearance is only .010 on 1 of the pistons, and all over on others with a average of .030.This is at the wrist pin not the skirt.
I feel I need around .060
I want to grind the crank to fit not the pistons.
I know I will have to balance the assy. (again:().
My question is, is this the correct way to fix my problem?
Will it still be a internal balanced assy.?
Do you think I will need to add weight slugs?
Thanks for any help.Just tring to get a idea where my funds go next.
This stroker has not gone as I have planned. Everything is fighting me.

Yes,all parts are correct as far as I can tell.It was a balanced assy.
I had to deck the block to 9.780 for the pistons to be .005 down.
mahle part#BBC270500D10
I forgot this is a gen 6 1 piece rear main crank.That shouldn't make a difference.
My supplier is not retuning calls. Go figure.

Eagle CRS63853D rods
Eagle 445642526385 crank
There is about a 1" section that I would have to grind on the crank.
Again it does not hit and will turn over, but is way to close for comfort.

Eagle said to grind crank to fit. The 1 piece rear main deal is what made the counter weights bigger. He sounded very familiar with the problem for it to not be fixed in the cranks they send out.
I WILL KICK THIS ENGINES @$$ WHEN I GET IT DONE

What length rods b/c you should be installing at least a 1/4" longer?

B/c if you are trying to use stock, 6.135", you will probably lock up. Probably not b/c you haven't locked up...

And you may be able to just flatten the counterweights in that spot to give yourself the extra clearance in just that short of movement and not worry about rebalancing it.

Hopefully, Mike, Carl or Gary will pop in here....

Crank suppliers will give you a min rod length, do you have at least that rod length?

Could you post your crank and rod part numbers?

Sounds like Eagle built their counterweights measured off of a GM cast crank instead of steel. There are two different pistons for Gen 6 454 - one has a shorter skirt, it goes with the cast crank. The other is a standard 454 piston that goes with the steel crank. I know it sounds crazy, but that's the way it is.
Since Eagle told you what to do, are they paying for their mistake and rebalancing?

I try to build ALL of mine to take it when I decide to drive it like I hate it!
