i have a 72 mailbu with an th350 automatic transmission. When i reverse out of my drive way and then put it in drive it makes a loud ping noise. the transmission also shifts a little funny, i have to let off the gas sometimes for it change gears or it gets stuck in first. any ideas?
should i just have it looked at by a shop?

if so what questions should i ask and info should i know before i go. i dont want to spend alot of money for parts i dont need to replace

U-joints might need some grease.

If they are pinging - they are past greasing, the ping may stop for a while if you do lube them, but the pinging is caused by having slack in the joint and grease doesn't fill the gap for long. Go to Advance and buy their "Brute Force" brand made by Spicer. These are made with no grease fitting and are much stronger because of it. OLDED
