I've had my Malibu for a few years now and it just had the standard vinyl seat covers (and missing medallions). Since my headliner replacement has turned into a major snowball effect with everything else in the interior I decided to buy the gold rivar cloth from SMS and have a local upholstery shop install inserts into my existing seat covers. (with new front seat foam)

I think it turned out very nice. I absolutely love the cloth seats :)

Before/after pics. I'll get more once the interior is finished-

I was under the impression that cloth seat covers are available. Did you look into buying new covers? What was the cost of the conversion?

Thanks guys.

Cars inc. makes the cloth seat covers but they said they use 1967 gold material which is one shade darker than the correct color. I didn't want a darker vinyl and I don't know of anyone else that has those covers available.

The cost of the material from SMS was $270 and the upholstery shop charged $600 to modify my existing seat covers and re-assemble the front and rear seats. Front seat foam was $160 I believe.
