No, It isn't necessary. My experience has been, however, oil will blow out someplace under hard acceleration. If you have a PCV system, the oil will get sucked into the intake and burned through. If you have a road draft tube like the old engines used, the oil will be directed to the ground, under the car. If you have neither, the oil will most likely get blown up through the breather in your valve cover and all over your engine and exhaust. I usually use PCV.

If you can find a source of vacuum to operate a PCV, your oil will last longer, the engine will stay cleaner inside, and you'll cut pollution DRAMATICALLY.

There's no good reason to NOT use a PCV as long as you have vacuum signal to drive it.

It is not raced at the track and only driven on occasion.
Not only do you not need a PCV, but the engine isn't really required either:p j/k.

Seriously, If your not really using it than leave it as is. Looks nice without one.

gtta have manifold vacuum or some kind of big vacuum pump to pull the crankcase fumes out of the engine. Don't think you're going find much vacuum with that 8-71 and two 750 DPs on top. You could plug a vacuum gauge into a port on the baseplate of one the carbs if whoever built them didn't block off the ports. There might be vacuum under the carbs at idle or even low rpm cruising. With a 4.56 I'm not sure there ever will be any low RPM cruising.

Run 4 HIGH FLOW breathers to vent the crankcase presure and ditch the PCV.You would have MORE than enough vacuum (under the carbs)to operate it but the PCV will suck in oil and that will cause detonation. This is bad!:clonk:
Don't chance the detonation and death of pistons to "make the oil last longer" it ain't worth it.

So the 4 tall Moon breathers on the valve covers now are adequate?
