what yall think about this pattern on this chevelle 12 bolt was told 1000 miles on rebuild
342 yukon gears and yukon axles
12 inch lbs preload on pinion bearings
.008 backlash
hope it safe enough to resale if not will part out
Looks pretty good for a used gear. Have you tried it with about .002 more pinion shim? If not I would at least try it one time just to see if it gets better. Why so light on the pinion bearing preload? Are the bearings used?
Just bought this complete 12 bolt rearend i know nothing about just what the owner told me. I was just checking to see if its safe to resale as is if not i will part out
Yukon usually recommends a lot more backlash than others. If I remember correctly it's around .010 to .014, but I usually set them around .008 to .009 when I installed them. I just never could make myself set them up that loose.
