I have seen these before and am wondering the application. I know they mount on the rear axle and hold rubber bumpers, but there are already similar perches welded to the axle. These look like some type of extension. Does anyone know when/where these are used? The auction says they are for El Camino. Is there a difference between Chevelle and El Camino rear ends?

The rear ends are the same but an El Camino may actually be used as a truck so the brackets raise the stops to prevent the suspension from bottoming out. You don't have to have them on a driver but if you plan on loading the truck up or towing something heavy they may help.
