Parking light not working; turn signal OK

1805 Views 3 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Gator
The right parking light on my 68 Chevelle won't light, but the turn signal works OK. I've changed to a new bulb, but no go. I've cleaned the socket contacts with a clean eraser, but still no go. The left side light/turn signal is OK. Any ideas?

Check your park light ground wire.
Check for voltage in the socket.
Check the wire supplying the light.

Turn signal and parking light are on two different circuts (sp). Check the wire (correct color) out of the headlight switch. Don't worry about the socket, find out if you have juice to the wire (dash area).
Yes, check both circuits as the parking lights are separate. The turn signals are the same bulb and filament as the brakes. What you have is two separate wires for brakes, left and right, and when you turn on the directionals, it turns on either the left or right brake light. Front ones also on the same circuit.
