The cowl tag trim code for my '69 chevelle indicates TR 791. It has black buckets and complete black interior. I've read conflicting posts about 791 meaning both parchment and black. I thought parchment meant white, or is it a specific pattern? Should my interior be white, or is black correct?
Thanks,
Dennis S

Parchment is the color. My car is code 791 (I have 2 build sheets) it has ALL parchment colored vinyl with buttons on the buckets and rear seat, door panels. Black dash, steering wheel and carpet (its a SS396) No fabric anywhere on any seat or panel. Parchment sort of has a pearl effect to it and is an 'off-white' color. The pattern that's in the vinyl panel highlights for a '69 is called "Basketweave", while the grain on all the rest of the material is called "Madrid"

Thanks Dave,
Your answer clears up the chevelle resoration info I got from GM, which I never quite understood. It indicated that trim 791 was Black, Parchment. I guess that means interior color is both Black AND Parchment. So, the next question is which parts are black, and which are parchment? You mentioned as parchment; seats, and door panels, and black; dash, steering wheel and carpet.
Are the headliner, "a" pillar mldgs, and kick panels also black?
Thanks,
Dennis

Thanks Shai. Judging from the quarter glass in the photo, the car is at least a '70. The '69 is exactly the same?
Thanks again,

Dennis....check this photo out. It's a large file, so give it a minute to load. I bought this Malibu new in 69 and it had a Parchment interior. You can see the rear package tray is black and the pillar posts are parchment. I don't remember for sure about the kick panels. Someone else can probably verify that for you.

Yes the A pillar mouldings, dash pad, top well liner, kick panels under the dash, seat belts and console are all black. No headliner, convertible which also happens to be the Black option but this is a separate option, either black or white. The buyer chose black. I've seen a couple of '69 hardtops with Parchment, and the headliner and sail panels were also Parchment.
