I had a few barely noticible dents in the top of my front fenders where I had crawled on top of them ,to reach the bolts where the tranny meets the motor. I had fender covers on, and to my disgust, after I was done and removed the covers, I had dents where my knees and elbows were on my freshly painted fenders. :clonk: . Most people didn't even notice them until I pointed them out, but I knew they were there and they drove me crazy. I didn't know how I was going to repair them as I didn't really want to take the front off and have them repaired at the risk of damaging my paint elsewhere.

A friend of mine who works at a GM dealership told me about a guy that runs a dent removal business in our area. He said he travels around and fixes new cars that come into the dealership that have blemishes from shipping and repairs them without the need of paint and you can't even tell. He also travels around and repairs vehicles from hail damage or whatever. He specializes on factory finished or custom painted show cars.

I gave him a call this week because those dents were just driving me nuts. He said if he was in the area he would give me a call and stop by and look at the car.

Well He came last evening and let me tell you he does amazing work . You can't even tell where the dents were and didn't do any damage to my BC/CC paint. :hurray: In all I had 5 dents on the driverside fender and it ended up being 8 on the passenger side. He caught a couple that I didn't even notice until he put his light to them. It only took about an hour and a half for him to do the repairs. It cost me a couple of bills (not enough to cover my deductible),but saved me a lot of time and work and he came right to my house.

I just thought I would mention this, as this would be perfect for someone that has a concourse quality show car with original paint that had a couple of beauty marks on it in need of repair. Or anyone else for that matter. I also don't know how much he is willing to travel, but he did mention to me he was on his way to North Carolina to repair some hail damaged vehicles and that he had been to Missouri to do that also. In fact he was driving a killer black Ford truck as a rolling billboard for his business that he picked up in Missouri, that had extensive hail damage and now is straight as an arrow.

He told me he has done a couple of street machine national shows, a couple of Copo cars and a $100,000.00 Pontiac pro street car is on his resume' also.

I just thought I would put this out there as I didn't even know a service like that was available. It might be an option for someone that is in need of dent repair. Like I said it is absolutely amazing what he was able to do without harming my paint! :beers:

He actually had various different size rods that he poked and probed around the dent with ,gradually working it out with pressure applied from behind. He is very careful and very meticulous. I don't think he does large dents or anything krinkled, but I'm not sure. :D

I had a bad door ding that my kid did in the garage on my 66 and a couple of smaller ones. I had a paintless dent removal guy work on mine. You are correct, it was like magic . For what he ended up doing the cost was minimal.

On the the really bad one, after he was done, I would bet a 1000 dollars no one could tell where it was.

Mike, maybe you could post his number on here just in case someone needs him. I live in Maryland and would like to find someone like him.

In '96 I had a one year old car beat to hell with softball sized hail. Paintless dent removal made it so you couldn't even tell. Only problems were some tool scratches on the underside of the trunk lid (and other panels affected where marks were hidden) and some "Ziebart" type plugs in a few hidden areas to plug holes that had to be drilled for tool access. I'd have it done again for sure.

Apparantly it's pretty common as I went to a car dealership today, just a few miles from my home, looking for a truck and there was a different guy doing a car there. I didn't get permission from the guy that did my car to put his name and number on here, but I will call him and find out if he minds. If he doesn't I will post it. I will PM you later old timer.
