Can anyone advise me how to clean, sand and paint my 65 steering wheel? It's in almost perfect condition but the red is fading off and black is showing through. Thanks

Painted with Base coat/Clear coat four years ago and still looks like new. Tried epoxy on cracks with no success, then tried body putty, looks OK, with minor cracking during the winter (just like when the cats were new).

Use semi-rigid plastic repair to fix cracks! works like body filler, but it is flexible like epoxy. Actually it might be epoxy??? can't remember? just know that it is easy to use and easy to sand. Then sand the entire wheel with about 400 - 600 grit. Then I would prime it, seal it, and use a hard enamel. I usually clear over the top of the enamel for added protection.
