I am currently in the process of restoring a 1969 Chevelle SS 396. I have a few ideas about how I would like to paint it, I like both the original 69 SS stripes but i also like the 70 SS stripes. I am thinking about painting both sets of stripes on the car; although I am not sure how this will look. Any ideas?

If you restoring it you only use the 69 stripe. I wouldn't do both as it will look wrong IMHO. Buy a 70 model to park next to it if you want the 70 stripes.

I would vote just the 70 ss stripe... or even a 68 and 70 combo.

please don't put 70 stripes on a 69....looks so trashy! Keep it original

That would not look good at all. Use the '69 stripes.

Only if you also add a hockey stick stripe and also have stripes that go over the roof. And maybe throw in mopar style stripes across the trunk...and maybe the one that cuts over the corner of the hood with the CI of the engine written in it. If you would finish off the 69 chevelle ss side stripes with the hockey stick front with AAR Cuda style rear that would rock.

Dont forget to redline your tires.....and maybe pinstripe your interior.

My sarcastic way of saying that would suck. BUT - your car and your multiple striping and we always say - "do what makes you happy"

Your car painted that way would make me unhappy but whats that matter? I'd just be the guy in the next lane wondering what you were thinking. That only lasts for the duration of a stoplight.

Thanks for the input. I am now working a second project, should be fun. I am only 19 and doing all the work by myself.
