Have anyone heard of a muncie trans with a overdrive gear ration for the 4th gear a 0.859. I have my chevelle and with my 402 and my muncie and my 4:11 gear w/26.5 tires. I'm running out of gears fast when i come off of first gear i have to switch to third because if i go to second depending on how fast im going the car bucks on me kind of like im hitting the gas hard and then letting off repeatily. And Im tacking real high rpm over 60 mph and i do alot of high way driving from my parents house to mine sometime. And i think it will be real bad wear on a engine to always but tacked at 4500 rpm all the time just to keep up with traffic. But here is the specs for this muncie i found.

If you want to save some money, keep the 3.31:1 and go for the wide ratio M22W gearset with the 2.56:1 first gear. With your 3.31:1 differential and comparing the M22W to a regular 2.20:1 M22 or M21. Your car will feel like it has a 3.85:1 differential in first. Then you would have the 3.31:1 in 4th as your final drive.

With the overdrive gearset and the 4th gear being .859:1, your final drive would be:
3.73:1 = 3.20:1 final drive
3.90:1 = 3.35:1 final drive
4.10:1 = 3.52:1 final drive

As you can see, you would be right back where you started without the differential change and the M22W gearset.

I currently have a posi 4:11 rear and my first gear feels like a granny gear. Until i really tack it up and 4th the car is running high RPM with only about 50-60 mph and i think that will be excessive wear on a engine espcially with me i drive highway alot. So i was wanting to get the overdrive gear set now i want to know how much does this gearset cost if someone can give me a price.

I have seen this gearset forsale ranging from $575.00 to $700.00. For the most part we sell the new Autogear products but, this has been Wally's forum long before me. I am sure Wally could give an exact price quote.
