On my 66 hardtop I replaced the inner and outer door and quarter window seals/felts. It seems like the inners are just touching the glass and the outer ones have a gap between the glass and the rubber. The doors aren’t much better.
All the glass seems to fit the upper seal and the seal between the door glass/quarter window so I don’t think the glass is misaligned.
As it is now all water goes right down the glass into the door and quarter panel. This can’t be right.
Am I missing something?

Not all vendors have the same level (driver, original, etc.) or quality. I had some PUI stuff for my 64 HT that was nowhere close, ended up going with Steele Rubber.

What do you think of Steele Rubber as far as quality & fit?

Used Steel Rubber on my 70 project and the seals were good quality. A couple of caveats though; they come with the stainless enclosed in rubber which has to be pulled off like an envelop opening strip. And two, the two outers on the rear didn't conform exactly to the body/sheet metal shape where they turn up at the very back. I had to fill the gap with some black sealant. They turned out very well and they touch the front/back glass just right.

They are a bitch to install which I believe applies to all brands.

I don't recall on my hardtop, but on the El Camino I had a few years back, the door glass sat in a piece of rubber, and that rubber was much wider than the glass. When rolled all the way up, I recall the rubber contacted the outer scrapers... When I had a glass shop install the glass, they neglected to use the NEW rubber channel I purchase from Restoration Specialties, and just set the glass in eurethane window glue... Not only this meant the seals wouldn't seal, but you could see the eurethane and the matal sash channel when the window was all the way up... I didn't realize it would be an issue until it was too late... And the show is supposedly run by experts (the owner actually installed my glass while I waited, because they forgot and already called my to pick it up)...

On my 1965 Chevelle same problem I installed 1968 or 1969 Chevelle inner and outer window felts as they changed the design to the flop against the glass (which is still used today). You just need to cut it to length and drill new screw hole the clips were the same distance. Even the OEM stuff in 1965 was not that great as the design (straight blade) only worked when the window was fully rolled up (hence the redesign). Oh and when I close the door when window partially rolled down the window doesn't bounce back and forth as the folded over felt acts as a dampener.
