For many our car is a hard pill to swallow but there's a lot more into it than meets the eye. We worked very closely with a well respected suspension engineer (Marcus Savitske of SC&C) for the front and rear of our car and everything down to the last bolt was planned to be the way you see it to balance good looks with astounding performance in all areas. There's been a lot of talk on other websites but rest assured this car will be put to the test shortly. It is NOT a showcar!! We managed to have the car assembled by SEMA but due to last minute delivery of vital components, we were unable to get the car running for the show. We are back thrashing on the car to get it going and for those that don't know me, my name is Keith Criswell. This is our "Genesis Chevelle". All the info on the car can be found on our website www.zefhix.com. I hope you guys like it.

Wow...thanks! The seats are power from a 97 Trans Am that we had covered in leather and microfiber. We also elected to eliminate the headrest because it gave the seat a nice lowback look even though the support comes up high. The motor is a twin TBI setup from Injection Logic, full-roller (custom grind) 468ci backed by a TCI built 4L80e w/a lockup 2400 stall and TCOM computer to run it.

Keith, I love the "no frills" functionality of your car! :)

It looks badass! Is it driveable yet? ...more importantly, did some certain people make things right with you?

Not driveable yet but very close......very close. No, no one made right with me which is fine. Word travels fast in a small town and if you step on enough toes going up the ladder of success, you may find yourself all alone when you get to the top, y'know? I just thonk that despite my descriptions some people just can't get past the fact it is not a showcar. I'm 25 and my partner, she's 24. We built this car entirely in our garage (except the paint/body and 2 days at the interior shop for fitment) and we did it for just under 36K. We went quite a bit over budget but there was some things I would not compromise on and niether would my partner. We didn't deviate too far from the original design which took us almost 6 months to finalize before getting the renderings done. I hope to have some really scary videos up soon for everyone on the chevelle!

what are the mirrors from
Curt
Before i give it away I'm going to make you suffer with how we discovered them. I made a template of the door lines right where the stock mirrior goes and we went to several dealerships "in search" for the right mirrors. We discovered these to be a perfect fit and only needed to drill holes in the door and fill the stock ones in. They are power and heated and will run you about $650 dollars for the mirror, housing and switch. They are off an '05 Chrysler Crossfire and I suspect that they'll be a popular choice for a lot of hot rods. As far as I know, we're the first to retrofit them and the dealership by us was way cool. I have the wiring diagrams, too, if anyone needs them.

Is that $650 a pair or each?? Your ride turned out sweet.

I was lucky enough to see this car come together here and there and I can say that Keith put a lot of hard work and long hours into this car by himself most of the time in a small cramped garage on jack stands. This car is a great representation of a true home built hot rod on a reasonable budget. Not only is this car unique, it also has the owners blood on it. And trust me this car will get beat on. Good thing it has updated brakes in case I'm lucky enough to get behind the wheel (little inside story on a ride I gave Keith in my car with factory brakes....one word "scary"). I also like those high tech translucent parts like the radiator hose that you have, who makes those? (sorry couldn't resist)

Now get that thing running so we can thrash on it!

First off...Shane, I love you too ;) Thanks for the kind words...I can never match all the nice things you said when you were...ahh...umm...drunk...the other night but I appreciate your sincerety all the same. The dash is a stock SS dash with the Covans insert and completely wrapped in leather (including the insert). It really warmed things up in the dash area and focuses your atention on the guages and paddle shifters which is why we did it. Also, because of all the sound deadening treatment we used from second skin audio and the leather, the car is freakishly quiet inside. We haven't started it yet but the second you shut the door inside the car you can't hear [email protected]!t outside..like the garbage truck (no joke)!! Oh and the mirrors were $650 for everything. I don't normally condone that kindof money on a $50 part but the outside mirrors were so important on the car.
In the rear, we're running edelbrock adj uppers with the sperical ends and BMR tubular lowers that we still have to locate 1" lower on the rear end housing with relocation brackets to correct geometry (wheelhop mostly). We are also using an SC&C modified speedway engineering adjustable splined swaybar in the rear mounted forward like the new f-bodies using heim joints on both sides of the endlinks. Please keep any questions coming...I tell you anything you want to know except where i got the transparent radiator and a/c hoses ;) That's my little secret. :D

I'll just take a guess here... although I probably should just let Keith answer the questions.

The point of the car is to be a badass pro-touring car built on a real-world budget. I *think* the blacked out chrome was part of Keith's vision of an anti-bling type build, or maybe he just wanted a stealth-look.

Why it's at SEMA? Someone with a booth wanted it there to show off their products that were used on Keith's car. I wasn't there, so I don't even know what booth it was in, or what products were being shown.

Derek pretty much hit it. I've had this type of car in my head for awhile before we bought the chevelle. I wanted the car dark, sinister and anti-bling on the outside as much as possible. I wanted the details to reel you in not the rims. The idea was to have a purpose built car that was suprising, basically. I wanted it to look and perform hardcore but at the same time compete evenly in every other aspect as well. This is why the mirrors, windows, door locks and seats are power. This is also why we have A/C, fuel injection and overdrive. Most importantly, though. I love my music. Can't live without it and as Dick Clark said, it's the soundtrack of our lives. So for SEMA we represented some very good friends of ours out here with their killer stereo setup, which is a little surprise about our car. This was all done by RE Audio (www.reaudio.com) Here's what's left of the trunk-
