i bought a NOS l88 engine a couple years back.it was a late 69 512 4-bolt block, had the real l88 rods and pistons,074 heads and had a tunnel ram with 2 660 holleys and old school set of headers, never fired and i give 5000 for it.i think i got a good deal on it. greg

Casting dates and cast numbers will make a big difference when trying to determine a value here. Does it still have the aluminum heads? What are the head casting numbers? Sounds like a very interesting engine but lots more info is needed.

The one we should have bought in Charlotte 12 years ago, had a 512 block, with a 1970 date. They started phasing these out in the early '90's, when they introduced the new design BB, and started building various crate engine combos. The one we found had 2 sets of 990 assembled heads, the crate short block, 2 LS-6 camshafts, A ZL-1 camshaft, an aluminum 163 intake, and 2 aluminum water pumps. All the parts were N.O.S , and still had tags attached. Everything was $4000 asking price, but he sold everything just as we walked back up to buy it , for $3300.
