Hi gang.

I need some opinions from you experts out there...

I am getting rid of the 2.56 rear end and am likely going to a 3.55 or 3.31 set up if possible. It's a daily driver and I don't want to lose a lot of fuel mileage but I do want a little more pick-up.

Would it be wiser to replace the gears in my current rear end or should I swap the entire rear end? Would it matter?

Any input will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

If you can find one with the gears you want in it already for cheap that would be easier.

With 2.56 gears, your going to have to buy a different carrier to go with 3.55's.

Are we talkin about a 10 or 12 bolt here?

Well, your going to need a new carrier whether it was a 10 or 12 bolt.

If you ever want to convert to posi now would be the time to do it. Eaton is releasing a new posi carrier for the 10 bolt this winter some time, it will probably be the best one to get.
