Purchased this kit back in the summer....painted the main console body and clock/shifter cover and compartment lid and now taking first look at putting it together. No instructions whatsoever concerning assembly or where the included screws are used. Some uses are obvious, some are not. Seems to be a lot of interference to fit the plastic chrome trim to the storage compartment area...difficult to push in place and it pops out of place immediately when I take my hands off. Looks like I might need to get the Dremel out and do some trimming. The screws that appear to be used to mount the rear lens are way too short and don't even begin to engage the plastic studs. And the clock....had to get it shipped three times to get one with the second hand not fallen off in shipping plus I'll have to remove the mounting band, push the clock in place and then screw the band in place and glue it to the clock. Not too happy with all these problems.
Anybody got any experiences to share concerning this kit? I did find some old posts from 2007 but wondered if there might be something newer that I missed.

I wasn't too clear about the problem with the clock mount. When I push the face of the clock into the opening of the mount and seat it against the opening, the long mounting strap lines up with the hole, but the short one is way too short. There's no way I can bend it upwards to make it reach the hole. I'll have to reposition the ring somehow...maybe grind that spotweld off, move the ring, and tack it.

I installed one last year and my clock had to be modified to fit the holes. If memory serves me correct I bent one of the tabs over and brazed a washer to it for alignment with the mounting hole. The other issue with the clock is the light bulb will not give you enough light to see the clock at night. The brackets anchor to the body where the small dimples are in the tunnel. The wiring is correct but I added an extra ground to the body for good measure. I too had to clean up the top cover to allow it to fit properly. Not the best product but when you're finished you should be happy with the final appearance. Not factory but much more cost effective for me.

When I get these parts that need assembly I pre assemble and check for problems prior to painting. If a problem comes up I still have the return option. Looks like you are figuring it out but why is such a effort to make this after market stuff usable. Patience and effort are your friend. Good luck,Tom..

I have both a factory auto and a factory 4 speed console.
I remember several years ago trying to switch 1 clock to the other console.
And it would not fit!
Been so long ago I cant remember what the exact problem was
but I am guessing there was something different with the clock housing bracket...
as it seems you have found out.
