One wire alternator produces 13.5 volts then drops to 12 or less after ten minutes of running. Any ideas?

? Sounds like could be alt. Diodes breaking down under heat. Take it off or drive to Autozone, etc. They'll test it for free.

yeah, 14.3 to 14.5. Sounds to me like the reg or diodes are breaking down. Autozone can test it for you and tell you if it's working. Of course, in my neighborhood, we go to the local tractor dealer and he tests them for us. Corny as that sounds, it's true. Besides, one wire alternators were originally created for tractors.

I'm not convinced that a one wire is the best solution for charging and regulation on a street car. However, since you have it, look on www.madelectrical.com for some help also.
