Anyone out there ever use the old school Sealed Power CS112R grind for a small chevy? Just asking from curiosity, recently I removed one from a small block my Dad built back in the early 80's. I remember the car running quite well, and being quite fast however I was young and that was many moons ago. The specs are as follows:

300/300 adv. duration
224/224 @.050
.436/.436 lift
108 LSA
NOTE MELLING OFFERS THE SAME EXACT GRIND, as #22233

This was in a 69 Chevelle, mated to an M21 and 4.56 gears, long tube headers, Eddy Torker II and 780 Holley. I now have the car (which is actually a true SS car, have vin matching 396 tucked away). I'm starting what will be a long restoration project since I have obtained the car since his passing. During the process of gathering parts I decided to get it running again. I picked up a cheap L83 (crossfire 350 from an 84 Vette), swapped to carb, bolted to the M21. Id like to for nostalgia purposes install the same grind cam, I know it might sound silly but just looking to briefly relive those childhood memories. Again just mainly curious if anyone has used that cam and cares to share their story.

If you want it to run the same as you remember, buy the same cam.
We offer a much more modern 224/224 design, but it makes more power everywhere.
It idles smoother and makes more vacuum, so it won't sound the same.
It's only 280/280 @seat, with .495"/.495"
This is a temporary "get it to run and move under its own power kind of thing, yet pay a little honor to my Dad by getting it running the way it was when he last drove the car. I do plan to drive the car a maybe a month or two when spring comes back around since its spent 27 years sitting. The long term plan is to return the car to its original BB state so as far as looking for a modern power making grind it is kind of pointless. Thank you for the info though!

That's what I assumed, and why I said to buy the same cam.
No other cam is going to act and sound the same.

UPDATE….

I finally recently had the time to push forward with the engine build discussed prior in this thread. The engine has received a few basic upgrades and dressed up a touch nicer. Specs are as follows:

1983 L83 short block ( factory forged TRW pistons)
Cloyes double roller timing set
Sealed power high pressure oil pump w/ hardened driveshaft.
GM “217” heads (previously on a 350 HO crate engine.
Holley 300-36 street dominator intake
Holley 3310-2 (750cfm vac secondaries)
Reproduction LT-1 fuel feed lines
Carter fuel pump
Summit HEI
Taylor ignition wires
Melling 22233 camshaft
(224/224 @.050, .437/.437 lift, 108 LSA)
GM hardened foot hydraulic lifters- not cheap BTW
Sealed power pushrods
And of course other new hardware here and there.
That’s coupled to a HD 11” Sachs clutch, M21 Muncie and a 4.56 posi. So far only the cam break in has been done. Further tuning will continue hopefully this weekend to get everything on par.

Thanks! Honestly I’m trying to restore the body and get the interior squared away before I invest the money needed to get the big block the way I want. Besides I’m not quite sure wether or not the 396 is going back in, or if I’m gonna go 427 instead.

Man if you sell that intake let me know! My fav of all time
Sure has that tall LT1 look to it huh?
Kinda neat doing the old school cam thing..Iwish some of these lines would be remade..but with plenty more lift for todays heads.
That one by camking sounds good. Lets hear a vid clip of it and your driving impressions
WIth a very slow ramp I bet it lasts with those lifters.

Mind telling us where you found them and how much?
